His Name Is Alive Offer Box Set Tracks via MP3

Your chance to pick up His Name Is Alive's 10-disc box set The Cloud Box has come and gone-- and if you're all "Ten CDs?! What?!" then welcome to the club, because the box (on which we have previously reported) was limited to a mere 50 copies and managed to sell out within a few days.

However, in a show of kindness to those without $110 to spend on recordings of alligator noises (which were probably really cool, maybe), His Name Is Alive are now selling downloads of one disc from the set on their shiny new website. Dreem Up is an album of covers recorded in the mid-90s with Warn Defever's music behind Karin Oliver's distinctive cold-water vocals. The songs' original titles have been compressed after the fashion of 1993's Mouth by Mouth, but by email Warn was forthcoming with his sources, except for one track about which he pled embarrassment and stayed mum. Here's the run-down:

01 Seven (Peter Green - "Seven Stars")
02 Boy (Tiger Trap - "Prettiest Boy")
03 Jody (Masters Of Reality - "Jody Sings")
04 Jane (Jane Siberry - "Taxi Ride")
05 Silver (Leadbelly - "Bring Me Li'l Water, Silvy")
06 Affection (The Carter Family - "Fond Affection")
07 Young (Neil Young - "Harvest")
08 Night (Big Star - "Nightime")
09 Man (Charlie Feathers - "Man In Love")
10 People (origin confidential)
11 Long (The Beatles - "Long, Long, Long")

Defever rediscovered the tapes for Dreem Up while looking for bonus tracks to use in a possible omnibus reissue of the first three HNIA albums on 4AD, which, if it existed yet, would be called Meet Me at the Bottom of the Lake. He told us, "It's interesting (somewhat embarrassing) to see what songs we covered ten years ago compared to what songs we cover now... Yikes! I think I have to do a new covers album to help me deal with this. Maybe every ten years seems about right."

The man is characteristically busy, with his current roster of projects including a "proper" His Name Is Alive album (the first since 2002's Last Night), a remix of Yoko Ono's "Who Has Seen The Wind?" (finished but not yet released), "field recordings of a real unicorn," and recording other bands such as Ida and-- no joke-- The Stooges. His Name Is Alive are also performing a free concert paying tribute to avant-garde jazz composer and saxophone player Marion Brown in Ann Arbor on November 20th, as well as recording some of Brown's work for a record to come out in the spring.

Voici un topic qui ne va intéresser que moi !

Ben intéressant tout ça !
Mais bon...un coffret limité à 50 exemplaires seulement, ça fait chier quand même

Et Dreem Up n'est plus téléchargeable sur leur site !

Suis vert...
